I’m Eric Head. Over 26 years in television, I’ve led the people, projects, and technical operations that keep stations on the air. My experience connects enterprise IT, broadcast engineering, and the physical infrastructure behind live television.

My career began in IT and broadcast engineering. I became Hearst Television’s first Engineering Director to advance from an IT leadership background, bringing enterprise technology and broadcast infrastructure together throughout my career.
As Director of Engineering at KSBW, WAPT, and WESH/WKCF/WMOR, I served as a department head reporting directly to the General Manager. My responsibilities included engineering, IT, facilities, transmission, master control, operating and capital budgets, regulatory compliance, and business continuity.
Most recently, I led a 20-person engineering and operations organization supporting WESH and WKCF in Orlando and WMOR in Tampa: three stations, nine broadcast networks, and approximately 11 hours of live local news daily. My time with Hearst concluded in September 2026.
I enjoy developing teams, solving practical problems, and making technology investments that improve reliability and help people do their best work. I’m open to consulting engagements and leadership opportunities nationwide in broadcast engineering, technical operations, and infrastructure modernization.
Led the centralization of WMOR operational functions, including master control, into Orlando while maintaining uninterrupted broadcast service.
Led the team operating and maintaining Hearst Television’s Disaster Recovery Center at WESH, with satellite delivery of programming and station commercial content directly to other stations’ transmitter locations.
Planned and delivered over 120 capital projects across five television markets, including studios, production control rooms, transmission systems, enterprise IT, and critical facility infrastructure.
I use AI-assisted development tools—including ChatGPT, Codex, and Claude through VibeCode—to develop and refine practical applications. I have designed and published five iPhone apps with these tools, taking ideas through testing and release.
I’m also developing applications for engineering operations and facilities management, drawing on the workflows and challenges I’ve encountered throughout my career.
